OCT 15 PREACHING THE “ESSENTIAL” GOSPEL-- It was the preaching of the “essential” Gospel, the veritable “Good News” of Jesus Christ that finally convicted my stubborn heart in the 1980s of the fact that I needed to repent of my unbelief and accept the PAID IN FULL gift of propitiation that Christ’s redeeming sacrifice on the cross at Calvary represents. No more slaughtering millions of animals required by God upon alters of sacrifice for forgiveness of sins too profound for a loving and just God to contemplate. His stated preference is a circumcision of the heart and a living sacrifice of ourselves in service to His Savior Son, Christ Jesus. By submitting Himself as the sacrificial “Lamb of God” for the final and ultimate substitutionary payment for the “sins of the entire world” spoken of so much in the Torah/Old Testament as well as the New, our sin nature and sin debt brought about by one man in Genesis (Adam, through disobedience), has been correspondingly redeemed by the One Son of God/Son of Man Himself—Praise God. OCT 14 THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS OVER MISSIONARY WORK-- In Matthew 28:18-19, Jesus declared, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…" Jesus did not equivocate about His divine authority. In John 14:6, He asserted, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Oswald Chambers today at at The Key To The Missionary's Work reminds us that following Jesus’s command to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” means we first must be believing, acting, speaking, trusting, living and preaching under His declared authority. No one has been doing just that more faithfully in ministering to the Western Rodeo World of Cowboy Church International for over 40 years than my good friends Coy and Donna Huffman at Coy Huffman Ministries –njc. OCT 13 GOD’S PURPOSE FOR DISCOURAGEMENT-- No one likes to fail when embarking upon one’s vision, particularly if that vision is understood to be in keeping with what God wants us to do. Too often though, we embark on feel-good quests on our own initiatives instead of first getting into an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father and getting into synch with Him and His visions or purposes. These are the times when we may fail and fall into a season of discouragement. To God, however, this is an opportunity for us to prosper spiritually and enter into a season of personal growth—njc. Oswald Chambers discusses this in more detail today at Individual Discouragement And Personal Growth P.S. Don’t forget to “Pray the Promise, not the Problem” at Scripture Promises

OCT 12 WALKING IN GOD’S WORD-- Genesis 5:24 tells us that “Enoch walked faithfully with God, and then he was no more.” How can we walk with God today? It starts by answering God’s call through His Messiah/Savior Son: “Come to me,” Jesus says. Once one does that simple inclusive step, the riches of God’s saving mercy and grace abounds to our spiritually regenerated spirit and God’s Word becomes alive for the first time. The next step is getting into God’s stride. Find out what that means at Getting Into God's Stride P.S. Don’t forget to “Pray the Promise, not the Problem” at Scripture Promises

OCT 11 TRUSTING GOD WHEN HE IS SILENT-- Our Christian goal should be trying to become so submitted to Jesus that when we pray to His Father, we know by deep faith that He will answer. But many times the answer we get seems like it’s a “no” answer, when in fact it is God trusting us to wait in silence for an answer that may be God’s best for us in His grand plan. Oswald Chambers explores this in specific detail at God's Silence-- Then What? P.S. Don’t forget to “Pray the Promise, not the Problem” at Scripture Promises

OCT 10 GOD’S TRUTHS ARE FOR BABES NOT THE WISE-- Oswald Chambers speaks from Scripture again today and reminds us that we either have a relationship with our heavenly Father or we don’t. Spiritual truths are of God and are not revealed to any outside of a relationship with Him. The first step of Spiritual wisdom and of obedience begins with the invitation of Jesus: “Come to me.” That first step is key. Skip that and everything we learn is man-inspired and tradition-based, not Spiritually-based nor God-inspired. Our relationship with our heavenly Father, the great I AM THAT I AM, is “instantly perfected” once we take the first step. More at How Will I Know? P.S. OCT 9 JESUS HAS ATONED FOR OUR SIN NATURE-- The Great I AM THAT I AM has already made provision through Christs Atonement on the Cross for all who will accept that precious giftthat Pearl of Great Price. But even God, in all His Almightiness, forces no one to believe and build their faith on Christs Atonement. Yet that is what we are all invited to do (John 3:16, 3:17). OCT 8 WHY JESUS MATTERS-- In the Old Testament (Jewish Torah) era, when God told Moses to go to Pharaoh with a divine message, Moses asked God what to say when asked who had sent him. God replied: Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, a phrase which translates as I AM THAT I AM. We all know what happened when Pharaoh disregarded Gods messages. Fast forward to the New Testament era when this same I AM THAT I AM speaks in Matthew 17:3-5. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelterstones for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud (as often occurred in the Torah era) said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him! So what has Jesus said? For one, He told Nicodemus, one of the High Jewish leaders who came to Him at night: You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again (John 3:7). Secondly, Jesus also said in John 10:30, I and the Father are One. Thirdly, He said in John 14:6, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I bring up this preamble because today Oswald Chambers reminds us that we have to humble ourselves (according to Scripture) to Come To Jesus. For me, this is not a humiliation but a merciful act of grace extended to me by none other than the wonderful I AM THAT I AM. For Chambers take on this, check out Coming To Jesus P.S. OCT 7 CHANGING YOUR SPIRITUAL DNA--PART TWO... 2 CORINTHIANS 5:16-21 16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come (e.g. spiritual regenerationnjc note): The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting peoples sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christs ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christs behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (NJC Note: It can be stated no plainer. Christ has reconciled those who come to Him for spiritual regeneration by being born again (John 3:7, 3-16, 3-17) and being restored back to God so that their unregenerated sin nature is now null and void through Christ. As sin came into the world through one man, mans sin nature was taken out for those who accept the gift of redemption through Christ Jesus. Praise God, the sin debt is pre-paid!). OCT 6 CHANGING YOUR SPIRITUAL DNA- PART ONE... Because of the Adams willful disobedience as told in the beginning of Genesis, Almighty God Jehovah, Creator of all things, deemed that from then on all mankind would be generated (born) into this earthly life with a negative spiritual DNA called sin. (Note: if you disbelieve this story, man himself has fabricated one that doesnt have God in itits called Pantheistic Evolution-- but has far less evidence to support it if anyone wants to dig in and prove it). The rest of the Bible is about God bringing forth a redeeming Christ to save man from his impossible and hopeless struggle to live an obedient and holy life while contending with his heredity sin nature that makes this goal a virtual impossibility without Gods continuing divine intervention. Oswald Chambers today from Scripture shows how Jesus Christ provides the answer to mans dilemma by allowing him to be regenerated (spiritually reborn) so that the very Spirit and power of Jesus Christ Himself can then enable man to become holy as God is holy (if he so chooses, since mans own will is never forced by God)njc. OCT 5 SELF_REALIZATION VERSUS GOD REALIZATION-- Oswald Chambers observes that God today does not condemn us for our sin nature but rather for our inclination to disdain His salvic gift of Christ-realization while pursuing our right to ourselves-- the self-condemning option of self-realization. John 3:17 says that Jesus came not into the world to condemn it but to inclusively save any who believe and receive Him. God does not force us into any decisions. And the rebellious right-to-myself attitude is not new. Thats whats got Lucifer tossed out of heaven eons ago. For more on this The Nature Of Degeneration P.S. OCT 4 SEEKING THE REAL I AM-- We will never be sent by the I AM THAT I AM on one of His missions specific to His purpose until we vest ourselves of the notion that the insignificant “I Am” within us without Him is nothing more than a prideful (albeit well-intended) and false belief that we are an enlightened being of light destined for His spiritual work—irrespective of the vision we think we have been given. Until we rid ourselves of that self-deception and man-made construct, He is not in us; we are not of Him, and our vision also is a feel-good, sacrificial and self-serving construct— even when it benefits others…njc. OCT 2 FROM MOUNTAIN VISION TO VALLEY MISSION-- While we may get a rare mountaintop vision of what God wants from us specifically, it is only in the mundane, often humiliating valley of life that we can turn that vision into mission to serve His purpose and His people—njc. OCT 1 EXALTATION FOR GOD’S PURPOSE -- Oswald Chambers today observes that the mountaintop moments of exaltation that God grants us are rare and purposeful—not for savoring and desiring on a continuous basis for our own selfish gratification, but to build and strengthen our character so we can descend and be useful for Him in the valley—njc. SEP 30 BROKENNESS BEFORE THE CALL OF USEFULNESS-- After salvation and the process of sanctification matures, God uses the winepress of life to soften our self-serving and still-hard hearts toward Him. Only if we embrace that squeezing as being from Him for His purpose… only if we give up our right to ourselves will He then supernaturally assign His irrepressible call—for whatever purpose He sovereignly deems is just the one for each of us—njc. SEP 28 UNCONDITIONAL IDENTIFICATION WITH JESUS CHRIST-- Only Jesus can tenderize a heart that is hard against God. Looking at other “spiritual” avenues in an attempt to do this results in finding solutions wrought by man or by worshiping things of the natural versus the Creator Himself. AUG 19 SELF-AWARENESS-- Oswald Chambers today looks at Jesus’s invitation in Matthew 11:28, wherein He says: “Come to Me.” Chambers starts by saying that “God intends for us to live a well-rounded life in Christ Jesus, but there are times when that life is attacked from the outside. Then we tend to fall back into self-examination, a habit that we thought was gone….” The bottom line of the discussion today is that we should not allow our periodic lapses into ‘self-awareness’ override our dependency on Jesus to help us live a life of ‘Christ-awareness.’ Our Father Jehovah God Almighty not only wants that for us but has also made this promise in the Old Testament Book of Jeremiah 29:13-14, saying: “And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. AUG 11 THIS EXPERIENCE MUST COME-- Our Father God Jehovah is never far from any of us, believer and unbeliever alike. When, in the course of our lifetime, we continually ignore His attempts to get our attention, He often will allow calamity to reign for a season. Too often this makes the most stubborn to dig in harder in unbelief. Doesn’t this circumstance confirm the reason for the hardest heart? Not really. Hard hearts call for hard measures. GOD NEVER GIVES UP ON US. He wants to populate Heaven not Hell. But if we can’t allow God to soften our hearts toward Him while we are on earth for this brief wisp of time called Life, then the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ for us as propitiation for our sins (of unbelief and otherwise) was for naught. But we’ve known that’s not true for over 2,000 years ever since the historically-documented Resurrection. Jesus Himself said in John 6:44: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” A hard heart is a dangerous condition, not only for physical health reasons but more importantly for spiritual reasons that have eternal implications—njc. Oswald Chambers today shows how ancients in Bible history dealt with their aloneness during seasons of trial allowed by God to test and mature their belief and trust in Him.
