| If you look around enough you will find someone who still insists that the world is flat. People can hardly agree on anything anymore.
The dietary advice being given in this thread is extremely solid. Great job ladies! However, I will say it again, there is no one diet that is right for everyone... we are all different.
Some are fast oxidizers; they do well with a higher percentage of protein in their diet. Slow oxidizers need more carbs.
The science behind it gets complicated, but it all boils down to what these ladies are demonstrating... take control of your food intake - quality and quantity - and listen to your body to see how it responds to different foods. Then make changes accordingly.
Start with the foods God provided for us and leave all the boxed and artificial stuff alone. All it does is feed the sickness industry. |

| Ph diet food lists have conflicting information! Does anyone know a RELIABLE source which lists foods and their ph levels?
Also, I just realized that candida diets are so much more restrictive than ph diets. Does anyone know a RELIABLE source for a list of foods which are allowed on this diet? |

| Thanks for your input Sara. Those are excellent suggestions. I have followed most of your suggestions for a decade or so and I did have a good immune system until about two years ago when the Morgellons appeared. I use only organic food when it can be found: organic olive oil, eggs, wild fish chicken, veggies, fruits. I eat only grass-fed beef as I have never found a source of organic beef. What I am puzzled by is that I purchased the PH strips a month ago and I am always acidic. Bread is always a problem because Organic whole grain bread seems always to have a lot of sugar so I seldom use bread. Some internet lists say Oats are acidic, some say alkaline. I make my own food from scratch and have thrived on a home-made granola based on oats, almonds, dried blueberried (or cranberries) and sometimes add pumpkin seeds or flax seeds - and to hold it all together - a heated mixture of organic olive oil and small amount of honey. I would think this mixture would be alkaline - |

| Hi Marilyn and Welcome. You are wise to start educating yourself and to start learning from your own experiences as well. Soda is a huge no-no in my book--not just for morg, but for general health. Ditto all white sugar and flours.
Yes, the acid/alkaline thing is confusing. From my readings and personal experience, you need lots of good protein: organic, non-gmo meats, eggs. No soy. Tons of vegies, like way more than most of us grew up eating. (And this is for life, not just for fixing morgellons.) Esp. dark green, and orange.
If I eliminate grains and most starch, I do great. But this is so hard because then I feel deprived and binge on stuff I reallyshouldn't have. So I am looking for the balance.
Stay away from processed foods as much as possible. More home cooking is essential. REad labels, or better yet, make it from scratch.
Also, I don't think the whole battle can be won with the perfect pH, so don't focus all your energy there. Just eat a really really vegie (non-starch, of course) heavy diet, high quality protein diet, incl lots of eggs, fish. Also, coconut oil, cocunut water are great for you.
Get away from unhealthy fats (they are in most processed foods) Good olive oil, good organic butter maybe, coconut. No canola, safflower, etc. Vegetable oils have actually been linked with the rise of heart disease over the last century, not-saturated fat as we were lead to believe. Good quality (grass fed, organic) beef and buffalo are great for you. And exercise!!! Super important. |

| I just started reading your Forum today. I have been wondering what all of you were eating to build up your immune system. There seems to be quite a controversy on the internet as to what are alkaline or acid foods. For example, some lists have whole grains as alkaline other lists put some on the acid list
The most important thing I notice is that if I eat any kind of sugar or drink a bottle of soda, I start itching all over within a half hour, especially around the lesions which become very red and inflamed. |

| Yup, that's what I was told as well- NO fruit or juices except granny smith apples or limes, particularly with a fungal infection present or a candidas. |

| I don't think it's necessary to stay away from all fruit sugars. 6 months ago, I suffered from serious candida issues. At this time, I could not eat most fruits - it would make me so ill. At the time, though, I *could* eat green apples, lemons, and limes.. these are very alkalizing in the body and will kill yeast and fungi.
However, as I have gotten better, I find that I am able to add back some fruits without a detrimental effect on "M". I still stay away from all sugars, white flour, and I still will not have any juices.. but I have to eat bananas since my potassium is low.. also .. you should try eating some berries in some plain, unsweetened yogurt. This would be very good for you! I think you can experiment with some fruits.. don't go crazy, but try one and see how it affects you.. if you can feel skin activity after trying it, then it's too early to add that back to your diet. I found that I can tolerate some berries in yogurt, bananas, apples, oranges, etc.. without any detrimental effects.. but I don't eat too much of this in a single day.

| it is said that fungi feast on sugar, yeast, wheat . .and that we should avoid all these products when trying to get rid of these things .. including the fruit sugars . . do you agree? |

| Good evening G!Have you ever heard of 'Metagenics' health products? They have powdered medical foods. As this is a Morgellons site I would think all things would relate to Morgellons wellness, these powders help with 'inflammation,ph,nutritional support and the fatigue associated with morgellons . Their powdered products are considered natural Holistic medical foods. My Dr. gave them to me to build my system while fighting this nasty Morgellons.I think John B. should add something like this to Logos. With Gods help I intend to win over this, how about you? | I tried to tell my sister the very same thing! But before I knew it.. she had already spent 300 dollars on this stuff to enroll me in her program!!! I know she meant well , they have personalities backing the stuff..however,after one evening of research, I now have found out that the founder of vemma is nonother than the son of the folks who founded Amway!, I shared this with my sister but she is reluctant to 'see'. Thank you for your reply friend.
Warm regards,
G

| Dr B, or Mel, have either of you ever used Vemma? Vemma is a health drink, and I was recently enrolled by my sibling (before I could say I knew what it was!!) Due to the fact that she is a vemma person. My concern was that all of the ingredients seemed great but one...fluoride. That one I was unsure of, (I have switched to Toms all natural toothpaste for instance) However, at the time I was still unaware of a detox response and in fact as I took and began to regularly drink the vemma , I was definitly detoxing or it made me sick..not sure which! So I stopped it then ..but still have some here. It is all organic (excepting the fluoride of course). So it says.. Gave this also to boyfriend and he felt the detox effects and immediately after 4 days stopped it.

| I guess what our main question is if Mel is on a particular diet or avoids certain foods and if so, what does he eat? Thanks!

6/18/2009 12:03:53 AM | When Mel asked me to put together a diet for Morgellons patients, at first I though no problem; an alkalyzing diet of veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, while limiting meat and dairy and avoiding anything processed... especially refined carbs (to help control the fungal component of coinfections).
While all of that is basically true, it is also true that there is no one right diet to fit all people... or even all subjects in a subset of people. There are several excellent articles on the Logos website that address this issue in detail, such as 'One Man's Meat is Another Man's Poison', 'Metabolic Typing and its Role in Weight Loss', and 'You are What you Eat'.
