Hi Anna,

I would if possible stay away from store bought tomato or barbecue sauces.

For your own tomato sauce I'd chop fresh tomatoes, add a little water, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sea salt, a dash of apple cider vinegar, a tiny bit of cinnamon powder, and even a little bit of ginger.. To your taste, cook it down into a sauce. You could even add beans of your choice!

This homemade sauce will last three days in the fridge or you could even freeze it in portions.

Thank you Thomas and Marie,

This is great advice from the both of you. I really think it's best to stay away from the sugar alcohols. I don't think my body handles it well. I'll go ahead and make her some ketchup.

Great news! I found a barbecue sauce. It is sweetened with stevia and uses apple cider vinegar. It's called Simple Girl. Here's the link:

I'm working on a buffalo sauce recipe next.

God Bless!

Hey Anna,

My advise is to always err on the side of caution. When in doubt don't eat it. Having said that, I understand it is important to mentally fight for some type of normalcy.

The beautiful thing about this disease is that it will tell you your own personal diet if you learn to listen to it,

For me I would take whatever food item and try it pretty much on an empty stomach. If she has any kind of reaction, then the answer is no. If she doesn't, then slowly and very gradually incorporate it back into the diet.

As an example for me at about the 8 month mark I added organic granny smith green apples. At first they were ok. I slowly added them to my diet: still ok. About a month later I was eating them once a day for the pectate and other excellent qualities they have, But my body kicked it out by the thrush in my mouth growing even worse.

Her body should be the guide. Everyone's body is a little different. I hope this helps.

Warm Regards,

Thomas
