I am really not surprised by the numbers. I know two people who I am sure have this illness right now and I help in any way I can.
Not everyone enjoys being in the spotlight, and not everyone can expose themselves to harsh scrutiny by taking a public stand.
For those like Mel, I applaud you!
I feel very strongly that it is only a matter of time before the media catches on to the reality and severity of what we are going through. I think the numbers are increasing too much for this to be an underground issue much longer.
When Magic Johnson came out to the public about his HIV status, things got better and I suspect the same thing will happen with Morgellons.
Let's hope it is soon.
If you are new to this forum, take heart. You will find much on this site to help you. And NO ONE profits from the site. It is just volunteers who got better willing to help others who are scared and suffering.
