Hi Nykki,

It is good to see you back again. This is a very interesting question that pops up often across message boards.

You have DNA inside the nucleus of every cell that determines every genetic trait that makes you the unique person that you are. These genes are inherited in equal measure from both parents. The body is programmed to maintain the integrity of your nuclear DNA as it replaces millions of cells each day.

You also have DNA inside your mitochondria, a critical organelle which is the powerhouse of each cell. Mitochondrial DNA is thought to be more vulnerable to environmental and other toxic influences.

As noted in my article on Hypothyroidism Type II, we are witnessing with each generation the progressive degradation of our mitochondrial gene pool, resulting in degenerative conditions (like Hypothyroidism Type II) that are passed from mother to child through altered mitochondrial DNA.

However, as far as Morgellons goes, disruption of your own DNA (of either type) is not necessary to cause the syndrome of hypertoxicity and immune suppression we see in those who are affected.

Far more likely is the scenario being laid out by those who oppose the use of GMO crops such as Roundup ready corn or soy on the grounds that the foreign DNA inserted into crops may be transcribed into the DNA of the gut microflora of the host eating the food.

Thus, they say, the bacteria in the gut of livestock eating the feed (and presumably down the line) are being turned into little pesticide factories.

The problem with DNA testing is its specificity. One cannot find what they are not looking for. Unfortunately, false positive results are all too common.

Whatever microbe(s)that are behind Morgellons are likely to be pleomorphic (meaning they undergo spontaneous mutations)and probably appear to the host's immune system as if they belong there. In other words, Morgellons is most likely a moving target.

All the more reason why we don't expect to see a silver bullet on the horizon. The focus of Mel's protocol is not on the cause of Morgellons, but on restoring the bioterrain, strengthening cellular and organ vitality, improving nutrient absorption and most importantly, reducing toxicity.

Thanks again Nykki for sharing your question. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Blessings,

John
