Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to add my thoughts on the importance of reading the forum from beginning to end and of completing that process early on. I agree with everything Peter and Nicole have shared here. Their advice is excellent and I hope everyone will take it to heart.
I would also encourage those just starting out to not only read, but to record what they are reading and learning for future reference. This helps us retain new information at a time when our brains are foggy, our emotions are running high and it is easy to forget what we read.
For me “recording” took the form of keeping a three-ring binder close by to take notes, as well as sometimes copying whole posts and placing them in the binder for future reference. It’s also a great place to record your notes from conversations with Mel and others who may be helping you along the way and to record the highlights of the conference calls.
Lastly, please don’t just read through the forum once and consider it a "done deal". Read and re-read and read again as you become healthier and able to retain the information and apply it more effectively.
You could think of the process as the “three “R’s” of our disease recovery. . . “Read, Record and Review”. I have found that those that are constantly learning on our website are generally the ones who experience the fullest recoveries.
