I participated in the research study in Oklahoma. In the ensuing clamor over the legitimacy of the disease, I stuck my head in the sand, wore long pants and shirts year-round, and (ridiculously)tried to forget about what was happening to my body. As I've reached that half century mark in my life, I'm finally ready to face the truth about the disease and start some kind of protocol.
