Hi to all forum members,

I am from the u.k. I have had symptoms going back to April, it subsided, then i got bitten in my home one night in August, then it started on my face, movements, pustules etc etc, doctors as we all know no help whatsoever, to me it is the purest form of ignorance, one doctor stated" there is no such thing as a low immune system, don't want to talk about it, i will give you some cream for dry skin" i was totally shocked and felt dismissed and isolated. I realise now it is a very common thing.
Lets roll forward to present, I thank Mel for calling me in the u.k, for which i am eternally grateful and introduced me to Eleanor, we spoke to each other on the phone the other night and was such a lovely kind person for giving me good sound advice. This forum and website has given me hope, i am on my first month of the protocol, with the extension kit to follow on the 1st JAN. I am 6ft 2 " and dropped far too much weight, any suggestions to gain weight? I am wondering about the whey protein from the Logos site, will it be safe to take? I really really do not want any setbacks and ruin the dramatic change we have all taken in our lives. Also any advice please into my first month.

I wish each and everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy 2014!
God Bless

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I will try to answer some of your questions. This disease affects us all a little differently so I never experienced some of your symptoms. It's a combination of using the topical things safely on your skin and healing from the inside by eating the protocol friendly foods and taking the supplements.
I happen to like guacamole so I make it with a couple of avocados, some lemon or lime, red onion, tomato, cumin and cayenne, and add this to lots of things like omelettes and salads. I also use it with Beanitos chips, which are GMO free, made from various beans.

As many have said before, the foods to eat are all on this site, but mostly avoiding acid forming foods, keeping an alkaline diet, and avoiding sugars, wheat and dairy helped me. Like Justin has said, it helps to monitor how you feel when you take foods out of your diet and monitor how you feel if and when you add them back. I avoided yogurt because it was dairy but many people tolerate it.

Coconut oil can be used in cooking, and you can get it organic in almost any grocery store. Once you find the foods you need, grocery shopping is so much easier. I buy lemon juice with nothing added in the frozen food isle and it is so much cheaper. I add this to my water and tea every day. Try to make foods you like and it will be easier to stick with this plan. If people don't normally cook, there will be a steep learning curve, but in the long run you will be building your health. It would be great if there were short cuts to this, but the time you spend on reading on this site will pay off for you.

In terms of your belongings, if you can purchase some Kleen Green and put into spray bottles, you can spray this on pretty much everything. As you clean your belongings, you can put things into plastic bags. I threw out a lot! Whether I actually needed to do this or not, I'm not sure, but now I have a lot less to clean and I feel safer.

As far as treating my skin, I washed with Dr. Bonner's soap and used coconut oil on my face. After I showered, I used different things, such as vaseline or mineral oil mixed with tea tree oil, or lavender oil or eucalyptus.
There is a lot of good information on what others used on this site and if you use the search engine, it will help.
Stay strong, Shawn, you will get better!

Ellen

Thanks Derek and Nicole,

I meant to say "wheat" instead of gluten - which is why I don't post much - for fear of writing something incorrect. I should probably stay away from the rice bread. Wrap sandwiches with non-wheat tortillas may be a better alternative.

My counselor told me no dairy, although the food list under "articles and diet" said non-fat yogurt was under suggested foods. I think everyone custom tailors this according to their own bodies. I definitely can feel either positive or negative results right away.

Someone who got well in less than a year ate Ezekial flourless bread because it is made from sprouted grains including wheat, whereas I tried it and my body screamed "Candida's coming!"

Shawn, I realize being in the UK you might miss eating Bangers and Mash-I also miss my potatoes :( I have started exploring with Indian and Middle Eastern foods since they have a lot of non-wheat grains, legumes and vegetable dishes.

I am happy to say after 3 months, I barely have any symptoms and my energy level is almost normal, and I was in pretty bad shape when I started. No more heart palpitations or sleepless nights :)

Wishing you all the best in 2014!
Sue
