3/17/2015 12:06:31 PM | Hello everyone, I am new to this site, but have been reading a lot on a daily basis, here, and have been gathering information on diet and recipes, in particular. I've found so many great ideas and recipes. It's great to find things I can easily incorporate with this diet, and, although I'm not a master cook, I believe making them yourself can save lots of money in the long run, as pre-packaged health food store products I find are often pricey. I was wondering if anyone has had experience using a dehydrator. I've heard of a company that makes coconut flour tortillas with one (the company is called Julian's Bakery (online), and they make various Paleo Breads and baked goods, which are relevant to this diet. I've made Almond and Coconut Flour Bread on my own, and frozen a whole bunch of loaves, but I was thinking of trying Coconut Tortillas I've seen mentioned. I was wondering, though, if a dehydrator is easier to use for this. I'm not sure how expensive they are, but wondered if anyone had any thoughts or experiences with this. I also wondered, as I'm on the protocol, and trying to be strict with my diet, whether Stevia really is a good thing for me to include in my baked goods that call for it (I've been leaving it out when called for, but wondering whether I really need to be depriving myself). I know a lot of recipes that fit this diet have Stevia, but was wondering if anyone had any experience/thoughts about whether it is truly wise to use, especially in the beginning of detoxing/the protocol. Janell, I tried your Power Bar recipe (below), and it is AWESOME! (and no bake, which I love!). I made two batches the other day, and I think it is going to be a favorite treat for me. I was also thinking that it might be interesting to add some vanilla protein powder into the recipe, for extra protein, and/or possibly a coconut cream frosting for the bars (i.e.: Coconut Frosting in the Desserts section of the site). I'm grateful for the positive inspiration and supportive information on this site. -:)) |
