12/22/2013 2:24:28 PM | Well, 5 weeks down now on the protocol and diet. This past week has had its ups and downs as expected. Here are my observations and experiences. Purging-This increased last week as I approached the 4 week mark and the December full moon came upon us. I am now purging a lot from the scalp and face particularly. I have had a hard time not touching and rubbing my face and scalp this week as the urge to touch the head is uncontrollable. It seems like stuff is coming out as I rub those areas. There is also more clear and white material exiting the skin in those areas than before. However, I still get a lot of dark/black material coming out. I also had an episode of increased scalp pain as it was trying to purge. I applied vicks vapor rub, and it alleviated the pain and stuff purged out readily. I also notice a lot of splinter-like things (1-3 mm long) exiting from all over when I use vaseline and tea tree oil. I do feel I may be slowly improving at this point as there are some things moving in the right direction. Here are the positives: -I have been able to fall asleep for an entire week now without any assistance. I get 6-8 hours a night of actual sleep and haven't been awoken by stinging. -My anxiety appears to be diminishing. I am seeing a reduction in the need to take anything for anxiety. I hit a personal record of 5 days this week without Xanax. -Although I get episodes of brain fog, I am noticing that I am experiencing less of it lately. I think I may be able to get through a job interview...we'll see -My energy has gone from about 80% to 85% on most days. Hence, a slight improvement, but a ways to go. -My mood is starting to improve. I have a little more positive outlook and have let my mind show some interest in things other than the illness. However, I still think about this most of the time. -My appetite is becoming stronger with time. I lost 8 pounds on the scale the first 2 weeks, and have since stabilized if not regained some weight back. I have been eating more fat in the diet as my appetite increases. -My strength in the gym is still at pre-illness levels in spite of being sick and eating less than half of the protein I was before the protocol. As excess protein in the body does get converted to sugar and may feed the M (by gluconeogenesis), I have been really trying to minimize its consumption as I maintain strength. I would say I may be able to lower it some more, but will have to keep monitoring my strength to ensure I am getting enough to allow my body to recover. I had little trouble with 4 drops of MMS this week (no escalation of symptoms), so I will go to 5 drops tonight. To all of you out there, I appreciate the support in the forum. I have sent my contact info to Mel, so you may have to request it from him if you speak to him directly. I do look forward to talking to all of you. Derek |
