Hi Derek,

Glad to see you are back. I have a couple of thoughts to share and a question to ask.

Have you been tested for Lyme and related spirochete infections yet? I ask because some of them (particularly Bartonella) are often associated with symptoms of severe anxiety. Actually, any parasitic infection has the potential to cause psychological disturbances, because parasites steal nutrients from their host that are vital to the maintenance of healthy neurotransmitter levels.

As you know, Mel’s first rule here has always been First Do No Harm. With that being said, I am glad to see you looking for natural alternatives to manage your symptoms. Remember, everything you put in your body has to be processed by the liver, and some medications can take a serious toll on your liver health.

You will find that Sleep Advance is very beneficial in helping you relax and sleep better. Although it is marketed as a sleep aid, it certainly does contain a number of ingredients that are tried and true anxiety relievers. I have for years used kava for situational anxiety (such as public speaking or television appearances), and it works extremely well. However, it must be used in moderation as it can tax the liver if overused.

Finally Derek, Mel often speaks of how much courage and determination it takes to face the nightmare of Morgellons head on and beat it. You have done it before, and I have no doubt you will do it again. I am reminded of the encouraging words that God gave to Joshua when He commissioned him to lead the Israelites to conquer the promised land:

“Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them… Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:5-6,9)

We are all pulling (and praying) for you Derek, and we look forward to celebrating with you as your health is restored.

Blessings,

John
