For the crystals, the bowl should be an oven proof bowl and if you do not have one of those then use a coffee mug. If you put it on a pie tin in your car be sure to use a hot pad or towel to retrive it for the pie tin may get hot also.. Once hot the crystals will turn into liquid and give off the menthol vapor, then when cool it will turn to one solid chunk.
One time when I did my car, there was stuff like snow flakes that was attracted to the mug and covered it over like a snow cone so I just threw the whole thing out, mug and all. When I did my 2 bedrooms, nothing like that happened. One room I had some liquid crystals left in the mug. The other room I did not have anything left in the mug.
I did my car three times and each time I had some of the snow flake like things but each time it was less and less. I think the reason I had to do my car so many times is that they were in the upholstery. If you have leather or vinyl it may only take one time.
Oh, if you have a convertible call me for a convertible presents other challenges and requires extra preparation. I haven't had to do my car or rooms again, that was back in Nov.
Don't forget about the goggles and mask when retriving the diffuser and even if you use a mask, I would try to hold my breath because if it works right, it is strong.
