As they say on College Game Day, not so fast Jimmy!

I humbly submit for your consideration the following limerick with love and gratitude for Mel's determination and with tremendous respect for all of the overcomers in our midst:

Mel’s Limerick

There was a fine fellow named Mel,
who found himself visiting Hell.
He was covered in sores and little black spores
and strange fibers that no one could tell.

He was exhausted but could not sleep.
His sanity so hard to keep.
For by day and by night,
he felt stinging and bites
and brain fog exceedingly deep.

Mel’s constant companion was pain,
this nightmare his finances did drain.
He heard his friends say
how his skin looked all grey.
He had scarce little time to remain.

Broken and lower than sod,
Mel decided to call out to God.
His life he would spend helping others to mend,
If He would just restore his bod.

Mel, Mel, oh merry Mel,
What would we do without you?
We’d still be in bed - and possibly dead
While the world thinks we’re nuts and taboo.

By “good fortune” Mel had a doc
with compassion and faith in good stock.
With years in his care, she’d not possibly dare
to label him and leave him in shock.

So she agreed to look after this man
as he searched and came up with a plan
to end all his pain and restore his terrain
And that’s when the miracles began.

Mel, Mel, oh merry Mel,
What would we do without you?
We’d be without Hope, addicted to dope
While the world thinks we’re nuts and taboo.

Mel’s health has now been restored.
He even survived flipping his Ford!
His story is told by dear friends who’ll grow old
with great heath as they walk with the Lord.

The lives he has touched are so many.
For his work he receives not a penny.
His loved ones rejoice at the sound of his voice
from New York to Papua New Guinea!

Mel, Mel, magnanimous Mel,
What would we do without you?
We’d wallow in pity and feel really uh… bad
While the world thinks we’re nuts and taboo.
