This post really struck home with me....My daughter is a Watson Fellow and did her year in South America helping indigenous tribes. My husband and I met up with her in Ecuador to journey by canoe from the queabueno game reserve down the Amazon as the test run for this Tribe...Observed termite hills as tall as me, pink dolphins, large blue butterflies, trails of leaf cutter ants, and fished for piraƱa! Slept on an open wooden platform with a thatched roof under mosquito netting while the howler monkeys were filling the darkness...Our flashlights caught the red eyes of the caiman on shore while trying to find the wooden pot .....To the point....I raised two college grads; one working on her PHD and the other in charge of the whole West coast operation of a major company.....and this disease has taken me to my knees... In the beginning I was desperately trying to find help showing doctors the scarring, the sores, the specimens stuck on tape, in baggies, including a wax mold of my leg, and the fibers....Raced to the emergency room numerous times with the anxiety, fever, red face, high blood pressure....and always I was sent home with DOP... One dermatologist asked: "How did you get to the Amazon, by bus?" Humiliation?? Yes, humbling and life changing to the very core of my being... Feeling very vulnerable and afraid to be hurt anymore..... I start my MMS today.... Thank you so much for listening... Diana |
