Hi Lisa:

I am also somewhat new to the protocol (3+ months)although a little further down the road that you. I am also a long-time Lyme disease sufferer like yourself. What great news that your Lyme MD is willing to help! I'm dong this without a Dr.'s support but either way it takes a lot of courage to stare down both these diseases at once without flinching. You sound like a woman of courage in spite of those tears and fears you mention. Those just make you human.

When I first realized that my daughter and I had this disease I was hopeful she'd do well but was sure that things were going to be very bad for me because of the underlying issue of Lyme. Interestingly enough, my incredibly healthy little seven-year old is taking longer to recover than I am, although she is doing much better. I have experienced a surprisingly rapid improvement which still stuns me when I really stop to think about it.

Lyme and Morgellons together don't have to be a hopeless diagnosis. Currently the only symptoms I am experiencing are Lyme disease die-off symptoms, not Morgellons symptoms! Even the die-off has been relatively mild (unlike other protocols I've tried), since Mel's protocol is so balanced and takes a slow and moderate approach to recovery.

Just the same, I expect there will be some set-backs for me along the way, but I now know I will make it. I'm learning that Mel's protocol is as much an answer to Lyme disease as it is to Morgellons. You are definitely in the right place. Take heart, and don't be too hard on yourself about the occasional tears. Tears are a form of purging too so I just figure they are part of the protocol! ;-)

Prayers for peace and hope as you move toward wellness,

Deborah.
