I believe I have had Morgellan's for at least 15 years. For the first five years I had one spot on my back that I called my 'stress spot' as it seemed to act up when I was under stress. Eventually it went away, but not before another annoying spot came up on my leg. Over the past ten years, I have slowly gained more sores. Lately I have had a terrible flare up, and have become quite sick.

Thinking back over the years, why is it now flaring up so badly? I have been under terrible stress for all this time, but have finally taken care of all the issues in my life, and am now working on my health... only to have it suddenly take a turn for the worse.

We have had fabulous weather this spring (I'm in Ontario), and so I have ventured into the sun a lot. I have found the bugs settle down, and my energy levels increase dramatically after just half an hour or hour out there. Could it be the UV rays?

This has made me start thinking about why I have not succumbed to this sooner. First I eat very few processed foods, and little bread. Second, I joined a local Yacht club in 1995 when this started. During the summer, I am out on the water, and thus in the sun, at every opportunity. Last summer, I would not wear a sleeveless top because I had so many sores on my upper arms. I was also not out sailing very much. I believe the large amounts of time I usually spend in the sun have been a factor in keeping the bugs at bay.

karen goold,

I ran across the article some time ago. I don't think it is a concern for the vast majority of people with Morgellons. It may be unrelated or simply an opportunistic bystander in a very few.

Viruses are notoriously difficult to get rid of. There are effective vaccines for a very few viruses and that work fairly well. While there are a few anti-viral drugs available, they are used for a fairly narrow array of viruses with mixed success. Most viruses that can not be vaccinated for are simply allowed to run there course.

My course of action regarding this article is three fold. 1) I don't think it is a concern in Morgellons. 2) Work on rebuilding the immune system to allow the body to deal with it naturally. 3) If it does become an issue use the most common alternative therapy my research indicates to be effective. That being an Oxidative Therapy.

There are a number of Oxidative Therapies currently used by alternative practitioners. Of those MMS is my first choice.
