Question for Mr. Common Sense--if you're there

I hope it is ok to use this forum to try to reach Mr. Common Sense. If not, please forgive me.

I've read your posts on your blog and I think you are probably dead on about fixing the terrain.
My question for you is about bird mites. There is a lot of stuff on the web about them, but no real good answers. There's no way to even know for sure that I have mites, but it seems likely since I touched a nest the day before the biting/itching feelings began. We have never even seen a mite, though I stuck tape all over myself and looked in strategic places in the house as well. And I don't have any marks on my skin. So far kids and husbands have no signs, but husband is terrified and beginning to panic. He can't stand to be home, and I keep my distance from everybody. We are doing what we can to fight this, but I'm not really feeling the mite feeling go away, and we can't go on like this (in fighting/frantic cleaning mode) forever. I know you recommend the sulfur soap and Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap for laundry. What else should I do? I have begun on your poor man's protocol because it occurs to me that my body has been falling apart for a while now, and I wouldn't be too surprised if Morg. was around the corner for me. We just recieved our Anu water today.
My core question is this: though I clearly need to fix my terrain and make myself an inhospitable host to invaders of all sorts, that takes time and I could be spreading something dreadful to my family and others in the meantime. I am taking a much more proactive approach to protecting and strengthening the terrain of my children and husband as well as myself. But what do I do about the mite in the meantime?
I know you are busy, I hope to hear from you though.
