Silica is ubiquitous in nature, and it is found in many organic forms, a few of which are toxic and most of which are not. There is certainly strong evidence that the amorphous silicon found in implants (along with the toxic chemical agents used to make them) is harmful when released into the body. Although it is obviously dangerous to inhale, I am not aware of any legitimate scientific evidence to indicate that silicon dioxide is unsafe for use as an excipient in dietary supplements. Obviously, there are people who make such claims, but those who do are either ignorant or have something to gain from their position ( i.e. - niche marketing - buy our product because we don't use excipients, etc.). The fact is that the most well respected, responsible manufacturers of supplements all use excipients in their supplements because they are necessary to produce a high quality, consistent dosage of target ingredients per capsule. Different excipients are used in different products based upon the specific gravities and various other characteristics of the ingredients used, but they are almost always necessary. As to whether silicon dioxide in the few protocol products that contain it are causing flare ups, I can only say let the results speak for themselves. People who take Logos supplements feel better - and with good reason. We have the most liberal satisfaction guarantee in the industry, yet rarely do we have anything returned. As the founder of Logos Nutritionals, I would never put anything into a nutritional product that I would not be eager to consume myself, and I do use many of them regularly. Thank you again Adriana for sharing your concern. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Sincerely, John Burgstiner P.S.- A little more info on silica: PubMed Article |
Adriana 4/25/2015 3:15:08 PM | Hello Forum, I started avoiding anything that contains silica and silicon dioxide , and noticed is present in some of the supplements in the protocol. Can anyone explain if this can possibly cause a flare up or not? Thank you, Adriana |
