This is a brilliant post! Thank you. There are valuable notions that you have written here. One example is the idea that much of what fuels fear, anxiety, depression, and other emotions may actually stem from physiological imbalance. One can't necessarily just think it away. Then, consider the notion that the MD parasites that invade us have evolved and become more aggressive than what they were in the past. Are there changes from pesticide use and resistance that are in play? It may well be that more severe levels of virulence exist than did 5 or 10 years ago, and this may further support why baselines for recovery may be longer now than they were then.
Thanks too for emphasizing the value of having interests outside of the disease towards helping to cope. And that to look for small improvements is the best way to assure that one is moving forward. I have felt the changes that you mention that will occur over time. You are absolutely dead on when you tell everyone ..." when things start moving in the right direction, you'll know you will beat this."
