I started out just as you did. Skeptical about absolutely EVERYTHING, because who ever heard of all these crazy symptoms, etc.?
But once you realize you have it, boy do you want help!
This site is the best thing that ever happened to me.
I have found so much help, but more than that, friends to talk to who are walking in my same shoes.
This is a long recovery, but the time put in is well worth the results. If you need another person to talk to, ask Mel for my number, and I would be happy to speak with you.
