Thanks Mel! I agree that it's a really great idea to spend time this season counting our blessings. We all know the negative aspects of having a toxic disease...but that doesn't mean it needs to take over our lives and rob us of our joy. I remember a hymn from my childhood called "Count Your Blessings." I found myself in a difficult financial position when I was a very young mother with one baby and one on the way. I remembered this song from my childhood and challenged myself to look around my environment with new eyes and try to find things I was grateful for...I challenged myself to notice all the overlooked blessings that I'd previously taken for granted. Once I'd changed that mindset, I'd go about my daily chores singing this song and noticing every small blessing. As I practiced this, I could actually feel the increase in positive energy throughout my body. If one embraces the idea that everything is energy (I do) then it's not a far reach to make the connection that we attract the kind of energy we put out into the world. The difficult situation I'd found myself in at the time resolved in a very satisfactory way after the few months I'd practiced counting my blessings. I still believe my ongoing prayer through song and faith made all the difference in the outcome of the situation. With this in mind, I'd like to suggest that we flood this post with blessings we are grateful for. Let's collectively change the energy into an ocean of gratitude, faith, and hope. I'll start. Today I am grateful for clean water. I am blessed to have a working hot water heater and great water pressure. I feel so grateful every time I turn on a faucet, the dishwasher, or the washing machine. Most of us in first world countries take this for granted...but live would be difficult if we didn't have it. Ok...so I've set the precedent...AND since today is the first day of the Twelve Days of Christmas, I'm going to challenge myself to write a short post each of these twelve days to share a blessing. We can be grateful for the smallest things...the idea is to generate positive energy by realizing what we already have. Come on...join in! I can't wait to read all of your posts. Love, Karen | ||||||
