Thank you for starting this thread so that people can share their anxieties and receive support. I don't think there is anyone who never experiences anxiety in some form at different times, even if it might not outwardly show. I remember that old Gordon Lightfoot song, If You Could Read My Mind. Well, it is a good thing that we cannot read each other's minds, but if we could we would see lots of insecurities and anxieties that even some who outwardly appear as cool as a cucumber are working through. I am not an outgoing person either. I am sensitive and it takes me a long time to warm up to new situations. I have never liked or been good at public speaking and have always had a tendency to "freeze up" when something hits me out of left field. But, I try to remember that I am a creation of God's and that He made me with strengths and weaknesses and that He will be with me always, even in my weakness. I heard someone say that being brave is not the absence of fear. Being brave is feeling fear but doing it anyway. I can tell that you are very brave by reading all of the things you have already overcome. Plus, you continue fighting on even though right now it is hard for you. I think you will do fantastic on your new job once you get more familiar with the environment and people. And a lot of other people who work there probably only had a couple of sentences to say when they introduced themselves also. I think you are a very nice person and that job is blessed to have you. Here is one of my go to verses during times of anxiety or stress. I repeat it to myself a lot during those times. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Cheryl | |||
