How many months are you on the protocol? The cistus tea does cross the blood brain barrier. It does penetrate the spine to dissolve biofilm. If you are like me who has a lot of these pathogens within the spine, there will have activities. But it's not pathogens entering the spine, but outward. So I believe like Laura said better out than in.
However cistus tea is a very powerful biofilm buster, so there will have more symptoms. If you are very uncomfortable with this development, I would recommend to stop the tea and wait for this hurdle of symptoms resolved then decide whether want to attack again with cistus tea.
With this disease, it's constantly managing symptoms, herx reactions, keep it minimal. Remember, if too much, then hold back on the tea until this set of symptoms passes.
I hope this helps. I had to do the same. But my spine is much better now than before the tea. I don't know your situation. Also remember all our bodies are different. Something worked for me doesn't mean work on another. This forum is a place we share what worked or not for us, hoping the information can help another sufferer after us.
Love, Linn
