Hello Everyone and Welcome,

We continue with our 2nd round entries.

Funniest Story;

Hello Everyone!

Here is a funny story that happened to me and is a true story.
Some years ago, my husband, our neighbors and I used to go out and eat together. So one Friday night, we decided to go to Johnny Carinos ( an Italian chain restaurant ) to eat.
So, we got to the restaurant, sat down, and waited for our waitress. When she came, I noticed she was fairly young and had a slight northern accent.
She began taking our orders. When she got to me, I ordered my favorite dish there. A chicken and pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes, bacon, and green peas with alfredo sause. However the green peas were always the really big ones that to me tasted terrible. I was raised on the tiny early sweet green peas which I love but the huge green peas taste entirely different. So, as always, I named the dish and told her to cut the peas. She asked,
" Cut the peas ? " and I said, " Yes, please."
So, we talked and laughed while we waited for our supper. About 45 min. to an hour later she came out with a huge tray and our orders. We were beginning to wonder when we were going to get our food. It had taken quite a while. She sat each dish in front of the correct customer. When she set mine down and I looked at it, I was stunned! My dish was loaded, absolutely loaded with peas!! The big fat horribly tasting peas!
When she said, " Is there anything else?", I said, " Miss, I asked you to cut the peas on my dish." She said, " I know and I asked the cooked to do it and he refused so I had to do it with a knife and it took a while."
It took a few seconds for what she said to sink in to all of us at the table, but when it did, everyone burst out laughing loudly and the 2 husbands at the table bellowed like donkeys being hit with sticks!! She literately had taken a bunch of green peas and cut them in half with a knife and put them in the dish!!
The poor girl was beet red and had the most confused look on her face realizing she had made some error, but couldn't figure out what it was!
When the laughter died down, I asked her where she was from. I don't now remember where she said she was from, but it was somewhere up north. I explained to her that here in Texas if someone orders something and said cut something, it generally means they don't want that item. Especially like a hamburger ( cut the onions ) meant they didn't want onions on the dish.
She apologized profusely. We told her not to worry about it. She insisted on taking the dish back and had me another one in record time!
Needless to say, we left her a very generous tip, I felt so bad for embarrassing her! Our neighbors and us never forgot the incident and it brought back fond memories whenever we remembered.
It just goes to show you the differences in words, expressions, and meanings depending on where you are from!!
Hope you enjoyed my true funny story!!
Hugs, RockinRobin
