Thank you much for taking the time to respond to this post. I appreciate you digging out your past creations and sending in a picture to Mel. It's wonderful that you shared it with us and I've actually never heard of card stitching. What you've done is really pretty! I hope that you'll be picking it back up again soon. I'm adding some “card stitching” pins to my Pinterest page in the "DIY Craft Projects" folder in a subfolder called "Paper". So if you do want to get some ideas, you can check it out and see if there's anything you'd like to try making. I've also got a subfolder called "Crochet". There are some video tutorial pins in there that you might consider trying. I actually learned how to crochet watching YouTube videos a few years ago. There are so many types of stitches to learn. I made quite a few scarves (for my sister who became very scarf fashionable) and a blanket for my mother. I never got into granny squares though since they were much more complicated than doing a continuous stitch. You might want to look at these tutorials to see if you'd want to venture giving it another try. You might enjoy it and become so good that you don't even have to look at what you're doing and be able to watch TV at the same time! The videos in Pinterest are only little snippets, but if you find a stitch that you like you can do a YouTube search for a more instructional video. I like how you recounted your experiences, so funny! Made me think of my own unfortunate crafting escapades, many of which became fancy interior trashcan decorations. The last one was just a few weeks ago. Our church was having a Women's Painting get-together where an instructor showed us how to paint a fall picture of a tree by the water (hers looked great by the way). Mine was looking pretty good until I got to the reflection of the tree in the water (the very last part). I painted the reflection and wanted to give it a more "realistic" look and liked what my neighbor had done with hers. She told me she dipped her sponge in water and swiped it across the tree reflection to make it look more like water. I think I must not have heard her say the word "lightly" before the word "swipe" because all I managed to do was remove the paint from the canvas (what was my “tree reflection” became a smudgy blob revealing the white canvas underneath). Yay! This completely destroyed the entire painting! One and half hours of work down the drain! Oh well, it got me out of the house and I did enjoy being around others of my own species for a while. Happy crafting and hobbying (spellcheck says this isn't a word, too bad!), Anna | |||
