HOPE. Hope seems easy when we’re on the top of the mountain, but what about when we’re in the low valley? Or maybe hope was easy initially, but now the struggle has gone on much longer than expected – now what?

I can’t speak for all of you, but I thought when I gave my life to Christ, it would be “easy sailing” going forward – boy, was I wrong! It seems to be one battle after another…. but I wouldn’t go back for anything. One thing I’ve learned is this: God doesn’t care so much about our comfort. What he does care about is our GROWTH. We will be tried over and over. We will be put through the fire to be refined. We need to learn to “lean not on our own understanding” but to trust God’s plan for our lives He sees the big picture and we do not.

I know it feels like this valley will never end– but it will. You will make it through this valley. David said in Psalm 23: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me.” God will never leave us. Does He always feel close? No, maybe not. We need to learn how to trust HIM, not our feelings. God is with us, walking with us through our deepest and darkest valley. Always remember this: Valleys end – some might be long, but there’s always an exit. God has a beautiful plan for each and every one of us. There is no fruit on the mountaintop. There’s only fruit in the valley. The valley is the “stretching place”.

On the other side of this, God is doing something so great for us that we just can’t see. God is a good God. He’s building our character, and that character is going to outlast everything else.

I’ve been on this protocol for four years now. When I first started, I thought I would be well within a couple of years. When I didn’t see it, I lost hope for a while but God has kept me going. Today, I still am not 100%, but I’m on my way. God has done so much in me during this time period. As horrible as it’s been, I wouldn’t change it for anything. He’s building in us trust, faith, and patience. When we come out of this, we will be more like Christ and so much stronger than before.

NEVER GIVE UP. Think of it this way – would you rather be on a mountaintop without Jesus or in a valley with Jesus?
