Garlic is very easy to grow, I plant end of Oct. cover w/ leaves so nitrogen is released into the soil for many months, I have lots of rabbits & some even sit between the rows of garlic never touching the garlic plant, Insects dont like the garlic so no problem there.
See the basket w/ larger garlic in it, those are the seeders for next years crop.
I don't use fertilizer, I use composted food & yard scraps to enrich the soil, sometimes I use rabbit poop now & again as plants seem to like the mild kick but only done early when plant is young. I don't ever use pesticides, I have to be careful w/ wee bunny's & our human system not being compromised in any way.
Harvest is Mid. July & lots of joy as you pull them out of dirt, I brush of dirt & air dry for 3-4 Wks. then cut away dry stalk that you left on till dry as they store better, I have garlic till May as I store in dry, cool garage.
Good luck & Enjoy-Donald
