Hello, Mel and everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone...and to your families!

I had to make a really difficult decision to NOT visit my family in Pittsburgh this year. I haven’t seen them seen last Thanksgiving. Although I would probably make it there and back and have a brief period of “punishment” after (due to the stress of traveling and staying in other people’s homes where I can’t have 100% control over the environment), I decided that I wasn’t healthy enough to take any risks. Both of my parents are ailing (Parkinson’s and dementia), so my heart really wanted to see them because I don’t know how many years I have left with either of them. However, they definitely do not need to be exposed to me right now. As a result, I have found myself ridiculously emotional this week, crying about aspects of the disease over which I have zero control—and a special thanks to Mel, Leslie, and Donna for the “extra” level of support that was much needed one particular day.

I’m sure many of you are in a similar position. You cannot visit family. You cannot eat a “normal” Thanksgiving meal (unless you consider our “new” normal diet to be “normal” now!!!) You might feel alone.

It comforts me to know that I am never “really” alone, that God is with me every single minute of every single day. I know it pains Him to see me in despair, but Mel is right. Morgellons is a gift, as hard as that is on certain days to wrap my very human mind around. God loves me more than anyone in this world possibly can, and I must take comfort in the fact that some day I will be with Him.

It’s so critical not to lose hope! All of us should feel blessed, grateful, and fortunate to have found this forum. It’s a “family” and a tremendously supportive and loving one. People do get well here...Donna always immediately comes to mind. She had a tremendous goal...to get better for her children and grandchildren...and that motivation drove her to get those “sneakers” of hers across the finish line. Leslie is almost there. Karen is almost there. Mel got there a long time ago, even without what the rest of us have. Countless others that I have never spoken to have gotten well. There are other people who have made incredible progress. Even those of us who feel that we are in a state of “limbo” would be lying if we said that we have not made progress because we have and will continue to.

All of you will be in my prayers this Thanksgiving, as you are every day. May Thanksgiving be a peaceful, joyous day for all of you, one that allows you to count your many blessings.

With much love and sincerely,

Jamie
