I was hoping John could help me out with this one.

As I have been spending a lot of time lately removing stuff from my body through the pores of my skin using oils, heat, and baths, I have noticed that over the past few weeks I continue to get what appears to be cellulosic food fragments of foods I have eaten over the past month coming out of the skin all over the body. For example, I have been getting whole seeds that match the ones from hot peppers I ate a few weeks back coming out daily, but less and less over time. I also get what appears to be onion or garlic skins coming out as well, and I eat those daily. One piece came out yesterday from my leg that still had the serrated cut from the knife I use to cut the onions and garlic. From there, I have concluded that the only way this can be happening is if these cellulosic food fragments are somehow coming out of the gut and into the bloodstream. If the gut is too porous, and they get into the bloodstream, the only way I can imagine they can be eliminated is through the skin.

So, if my gut is allowing stuff to pass that should not, I wonder what else besides food could be passing into the blood and compromising my health. For example, could some pathogens be entering as well?

Before I had acquired MD in 2006, I have had what the doctors called "IBS" since 2002. In 2010, when we were doing the Metametrix stool testing, the results showed dysbiosis with low counts of good flora and short chain fatty acids. Even after my recovery from MD in 2011, I never resolved the stomach issues. The week before my systemic relapse with MD last year, I was having unusual abdominal cramps (and unknowingly getting bombarded with mold spores), stronger than what I was used to with IBS. Also, I had a finger infection in January this year which was lanced and cultured as citrobacter freundii, a common colon bacteria, but rarely found elsewhere in the human body. I took multiple rounds of antibiotics for that infection (included Bactrim), which probably made my gut flora worse, although I have been taking Essential Flora daily since November.

So, I have been reading a little about leaky gut and found it interesting that it can wreak havoc on the whole body and cause systemic inflammation as the immune system sees undigested foods as invaders. There was a blood test called LEAP (Lifestyle Eating and Performance)that I did on my own in 2002 where they expose the blood to different food antigens and compared the immune response to healthy controls, and my blood was highly reactive to wheat and corn...probably an indication of incomplete digestion of those foods and the undigested food entering my blood.

Anyway, as I am not working I have made recovery my full time job, 7 days a week. I've been focusing on using natural detoxification methods that would not interfere with Mel's protocol. Skin elimination and fat loss has been my main focus, but I am looking at spending the remainder of my time rebuilding my gut ecosystem as I believe the bulk of our immunity lies in the gut integrity and ecosystem. I've been reading about enemas, and their use in treating leaky gut, candida, IBS, etc. It seems like you can use enemas to flush the colon with things like garlic water, saltwater, coffee, and yogurt with probiotics, and remove the pathogens and replace them with good flora. Never done enemas, doesn't sound fun, but it seems to be a safe method for healing. Coffee enemas supposedly flush the liver.

Also, would a product like Parabolish be appropriate for treating leaky gut? It looks like it would kill bacteria, fungus, and parasites, but has to pass from mouth to anus to reach the entire colon I'm curious if John could add something to this discussion.

Hi Vanessa,

You may be able to tolerate the Renaissance, but unfortunately we will not know until you try it. We do stand behind all our products with a Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee, so if you react negatively we will be happy to accept a return for a full refund (minus the shipping cost of course).

Some people who know they have leaky gut will start with the L-glutamine for a month or so before going to the Renaissance which seems to help. It is very soothing to the gut lining and much less complex.

It sounds like you could use a bit more fiber in your diet. If that is difficult for you, try adding the Colon Pro Health to your regimen.

Thanks for reaching out Vanessa. Hang in there precious lady!

Blessings,

John
