Hi Everyone,

Get ready...this post will be another long one. I just have so much to share about my newfound Keto diet adventure that I want to share it with you all.

As I’ve mentioned before, my daughter has been on Keto for several months and has been encouraging me to do the same. She is a vegan, so that made it a lot trickier, but she is so creative that she’s really eating well. She’s lost weight, her skin looks lovely, and she has much more energy.

A couple of conference calls ago, John B. attended and said Keto is a great diet for those of us suffering from toxic illnesses. That green light helped me make my decision to go for it. A year ago, I was so skinny and couldn’t gain weight. Not sure what happened, but that’s now in the rear view mirror and now I find myself needing to lose twenty or so pounds.

I’ve been on spring break all week and decided to go see my daughter on Wednesday and get serious about learning her methods.

Here are some things I learned:

1. Net carbs...this iwhat you count and she suggested 30 a day for me. You determine net carbs by subtracting the number of fiber grams from the number of carbohydrates.

2. Fat is good! An oversimplified explanation is that if you eat carbs, your body will burn those and leave the fat. If you get rid of the carbs, your body burns your fat. Eating fat keeps you from getting hungry and won’t metabolize into fat on your body for some reason.

3. Getting off carbs will make you feel not so great at first...but many of us already don’t eat all that many carbs due to our diet restrictions with this disease, so getting off of all but 30 net carbs hasn’t been so bad.

4. Most of us think of Keto as eating a lot of meat. You can eat meat (unless you’re a vegan by choice) but you’re not supposed to eat a lot of it. Foods to eat are above ground veggies, nuts and seeds, some meats, and fats like coconut oil, avacados and real butter (European butter for us). I was also surprised to learn that you can eat berries. Raspberries and blackberries are the lowest net carb.

So...with this in mind, I started my Keto adventure yesterday and have noticed some interesting things happening already. The first thing I did was go to the store on Wednesday evening and then yesterday I started cooking up a storm. I posted two of these recipes on the forum but gave Mel such elaborate instructions for where I wanted all the pix placed that he decided to wait for Glenn to be available to help him figure out how to do it...so look for the recipes in the next week or so.

One of the recipes I made had a LOT of coconut oil and coconut milk in it. It was delicious! It was a berry cobbler with whipped topping (made out of coconut milk...I have the technique my daughter showed me explained in the post with pix).

We’ve all read that coconut is good for you, but what I experienced was remarkable, and I really believe that the increase of coconut had a lot to do with it.

So...here’s what happened. I took a bath with a special moisture this morning. I used pink salt instead of Epsom salts (thanks for that suggestion Laura) along with baking soda. I put a cup and a half of each on a bowl and mixed them together with my hands. I’ve heard to use one cup of each, but I have an extra big tub so I increased the amounts. I added several essential oils to this including about 20 drips of Cathee’s eucalyptus oil.

That mixture went into a full tub of warm water andI got in and submerged. After a while, I sat up and lean back to soak a while. While doing so, I put my foot up on the edge of the tub and then noticed a black smudge when I moved my foot.

I looked at the bottom of my feet and low and behold, both feet were covered with a black sludge on the bottom. It was sticky and tar-like and it took a lot of scrubbing with a bath bristle brush and sulfur soap to get it off.

This was SERIOUS detox so I spent some time thinking about what I ‘d done differently to cause this to happen. My conclusion was the biggest factor was the addition of so much coconut oil and coconut milk yesterday.

I take baths in the above described mixturs several times a week, so it couldn’t be that alone. I decided to ask Mel, and this is what he told me. The detox I had was most likely from the combination of consuming the coconut oil and milk in combination with the topical (in the bath) addition of the eucalyptus oil. He said those two together are powerful.

I thought about that for a while. I’ve used those two together topically a number of times but had never combined the large amount of coconut internally with the large amount of eucalyptus oil externally. Of course you can’t take eucalyptus oil internally because it would be poisonous, but by using the coconut internally and the eucalyptus externally, you can get high amounts of each. Into and onto your body.

Mel suggested doing this again with just a foot bath for the eucalyptus oil / pink salt / baking soda combo. He compared what I experienced with the black stuff on my feet with what happens when people use one of those ionic foot baths. The end result was a significant purging of toxins with out any discomfort or distress and that is a big win for me (and any of us) hands down!

More good already from my just one and a half days of Keto...i already have so much more energy and am not craving something to eat all the time. Big wins! I’m sticking with this...it’s going to help a lot, i can tell.

Hope this helps others too!

Love,

Karen
