Joe 8/16/2020 9:46:06 AM | Hello Everyone - What a great CT&M call (8/8/2020) with Bill and Peter on the topics of mites and laundry! Here's a brief (updated) summary of Mel's and Peter's process for doing laundry. Please note that it's much easier to do with a top-load washing machine (ask Nuthatch, Karen (the Librarian) about her process using waste baskets if you don't have a top-load machine). Laundry 'Protocol' - Start washer using ONLY lukewarm or cooler water. DO NOT USE hot water! Peter can explain this better, but basically the water that runs the laundry comes from the water tank/heater. As the years/seasons change and accumulate, so do layers of biofilm in the water as it gets hot, especially during summer months. We do not want that going into our laundry. Mel has for over a decade said "cold is better" - As water starts to fill, squeeze A COUPLE drops of Dawn dish soap (too much can cause overflow with soap suds and ruin the machine). Mel does this primarily to remove stains from clothing, but it is not a 'requirement' to use. - Allow water to continue filling and add detergent (Peter recommends Rebel Green or Ecos as 1st and 2nd best detergents. Mel uses Arm & Hammer, which Peter says is also good) - Allow water to continue filling and add in Borax 20 Mule Team powder (1/2 cup) and Kleen Green (1/2 cup). Mel advocates for Kleen Green instead of WPS for laundry as WPS causes clothes discoloration... in this case Kleen Green may be cheaper than having to purchase new clothes all the time! If Kleen Green doesn't quite fit your budget, refer to Mel on proper use with WPS. - Add in clothes, shut the lid and allow machine to agitate. - Once agitation cycle is complete, either pause machine and allow clothes to soak for ~15 minutes. - Resume machine to complete the cycle. Mel/Peter - I'm sure you'll respond with anything missing here but hoping this provides a solid summary on how to 'win it with laundry'! God Bless.
Cheryl 11/27/2018 9:25:48 AM | Hi Rheidichris, I searched "dryer" by clicking on the SEARCH ENGINE link at the top of the page. I came across 2 posts that mention dryer vents: a 6/16/18 post by Karen under the thread "Cleaning details", https://howicuredmorgellons.com/myforum/cleaning-details/ and a 1/26/10 post by Mel under the thread "fabric softner" https://howicuredmorgellons.com/myforum/fabricsoftener/ They each mention vacuuming out their dryer vents. Maybe that will work for you to get your dryer vent clean. God bless. Cheryl
Joe 8/16/2020 9:46:06 AM | I've been using Borax along with Kleen Green for my laundry and keeping things separate in plastic containers. Something really concerns me and that is the dryer vent. It gets really dirty. I clean it, of course, wearing latex gloves and spraying with Kleen Green before I replace it. The receptable in which the vent goes gets loaded with gunk and it sickens me. Everything feels so dirty. Am I over-reacting and is there a way to clean that part of my dryer? Thanks for sharing your experiences.
