Morgellons - Mel's incident last night

Hi Everybody,

We need to keep Mel in our thoughts and prayers right now…he’s had a bit of an incident.

Last night when he was sitting in his easy chair in his bedroom, he began to smell smoke. He went to his kitchen and saw that his microwave and stove were on fire. He grabbed the closest thing…a dishtowel and began trying to beat out the flames that way…but it wasn’t working well and was getting ahead of him.
Luckily, two guys who live in the apartment directly above him smelled the smoke and came running. One grabbed a bucket of water Mel had for watering plants, and another grabbed a fire extinguisher. The three of them finally got the fire put out, but Mel said if the guys upstairs hadn’t come running, he felt like his apartment could have burned down.

After some phone calls, different people came out to investigate…the apartment manager, the maintenance guy, a couple of firemen and a fire inspector. There was speculation about what caused it, and the fire inspector said it may have been that a stove burner had been left on. Mel said it wasn’t impossible…but he hadn’t used a burner to cook that day because he’d cooked his hamburger in the oven. The two guys who came in to help him said that Mel did not even have anything on the stovetop that might have caught fire…no pots or pans or anything.
The maintenance guy hauled off the microwave and stove and put some fans out to clear the smoke. They said they’d come in on Monday and replace the stove, microwave, and some adjacent cabinets and then do some clean up. Mel said his kitchen looks like a war zone.

Most of us know that Mel goes to bed really early, and all of this happened last night and took a few hours for things to get tied up. Mel is exhausted and has burns on his hands although he says they’re not so bad because he’s treating them with WPS. Of course he can’t cook for a few days, but he does make a mean sandwich, so I guess he’s going to be Deli Mel until Tuesday. In my opinion, the worst part is the still smoky smell he’s dealing with and that he’s faced with doing some clean up himself before the crew gets there on Monday. Some things you just can’t live with.

I thought the apartment complex should put him up in a hotel because in my opinion the fire had to have started from something besides an electric stovetop burner being left on (and I don’t think it was). However, even if it was, I can’t see how a burner being left on with nothing around it could have caused the microwave above it to catch fire. So…in my opinion the complex is at fault and should have paid for him to stay in a hotel (and meals) until they fixed his apartment. But…I knew when I suggested it that Mel wasn’t having it. He can’t leave his office because that’s how he runs the site. Well…I tried.

Mel’s pretty tough…he’s been through a lot and knows how to handle things and bounce back, and he will do the same with this incident as well. However…I thought I’d let the community know what’s happening with him so that we can offer him our prayers and words of encouragement.

Love,

Karen

Morgellons - Mel's incident last night

Mel,

I'm sorry to hear that but I'm so thankful you're okay! And that it didn't catch on in the building itself!

I've had fires in an apartment before, and beat it out with a jacket and etc. I'm so glad those guys were there to help!

God bless you and keep you and make his face to shine upon you and Grant you his peace!

May you heal and detoxify quickly!
Marilyn
