Dear All,

This week's Saturday Conference call (10 June) had the very determined, excellent Ellen of Troy on. Mel calls her this name as she got well in nine months due to her absolute unfailing desire to heal.

Ellen joined the community in Sept 2012 and nine months later she was well. Isn't that amazing!!!! Mel calls Ellen's Healing Journey her, "fast track to wellness," and he isn't wrong!! So Ellen came on to tell people what it takes to get well. The website has existed for 15 years and Ellen is one of only two people who regained their health in nine months!!

Ellen talked about being a fighter and having utter determination to not let this horrible disease take over her life. Despite the fact that she had fear and found it difficult and traumatic she did it! Mel and the community helped her get over her fear. She followed the, 'sum of the parts,' completely, she did not cheat. She focused on alkalinity too for her body and she never gave up, not once.

Ellen said, "for those of you who have this it can be very traumatic, it's not your fault you got this, no one deserves this. But, you are responsible for getting better, follow the Protocol to get your health back."

Ellen knows the eating plan is not easy, nor is changing your lifestyle. But it won't be forever and If you stick to it religiously you will get your health back quicker. She said, "do shortcuts with food if you don't have the strength to cook. When I go out I get fish/ salad. I have almond butter without sugar and I make guacamole with avocado. On a Sunday I would make veggie burgers or crab cakes and freeze them." Make it easier for yourself. Ellen said" I ate simply like an egg and Ezekiel English muffin for breakfast, or Ezekiel cereal with almond milk, salad and protein for lunch and for dinner salmon or chicken with veg. I didn't eat potatoes. I cooked vegetables in bulk as I had no energy. If you can have stuff prepared it's easier and the key to staying well is moderation dont go back to bad habits. "

Ellen found that , "participating in the community made a huge difference. You do need a support system as this is a very freaky, scary disease, so get help from people you trust. " Because like a lot of us she would have been misunderstood and not supported. She would often tell people she had Lyme, that saved going through that misunderstanding. Mel agreed urging community members to, "be part of the community, listen to the calls and communicate with others who understand what you are going through."

Ellen thinks she got this from a tick bite. The good thing is that she went on the Protocol pretty quickly. It took Ellen less time to get well, not just because of her absolute determination, but also because she caught the disease early. She also ate pretty well before getting sick( she likes to follow a mostly alkaline diet even now). And she thinks she has a good immune system but most likely had Lyme before getting this.

Ellen said," the Protocol print it out! When can you eat, when can you take supplements, use a Journal and notebook, plan and follow that plan." She said, "make a decision to get better, buy good quality food, eat the right food, everything in this plan will make you healthier. It's not easy but you only have this one life!" Mel agreed saying," the only thing that matters is restoring your own health." Mel urged people to seek out the thread, 'delicious recipes for your dining enjoyment,' in the website to see the evolution of diet through the 15 years of the community. He said, "there are thousands of recipes there now that are ok for our people. You don't need to miss anything If you use the right ingredients!"

Ellen waited till a few months after she got well to come off the Protocol and to introduce new foods like fruit, in moderation. She just takes a women's multivitamin, vitamin D and Probiotics now and is doing great.

Interestingly, Ellen brought up how the majority of sufferers are women pre/post menopausal age. There hasn't been enough studies done with this disease, but there must be a loss of protection in some women at a certain age. Most likely hormonal changes too which exacerbate issues. And a bunch of other factors, like insect vectors.

Ellen talked about using essential oils and baby oils to calm down itching on hey feet when they were awful at night. A blend of Neem oil and Petroleum Jelly also helped.

Ellen used her fear to motivate herself to get better. She called herself ,"a fighter," and she isn't wrong. The journey to wellness requires us all to muster all the strength we can inside us, that's why Mel calls people who have succeeded, 'warriors.' But we owe it to ourselves to fight to get our lives back. It's the most important thing that we can have, our health, as we all know.

Ellen encouraged all, "it's hard but don't ever give up. Ask for help too, people will help you." Mel agreed saying, "those that got well, never gave up Hope."

Thank you to Ellen and Mel for a strong, positive, very motivating talk.

We are all so very glad to have you on Ellen to encourage community members to keep on track. And we are delighted that you got well again and that you stay well.
