1:35:52 AM | OCT 8 WHY JESUS MATTERS-- In the Old Testament (Jewish Torah) era, when God told Moses to go to Pharaoh with a divine message, Moses asked God what to say when asked who had sent him. God replied: Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, a phrase which translates as I AM THAT I AM. We all know what happened when Pharaoh disregarded Gods messages. Fast forward to the New Testament era when this same I AM THAT I AM speaks in Matthew 17:3-5. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelterstones for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud (as often occurred in the Torah era) said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him! So what has Jesus said? For one, He told Nicodemus, one of the High Jewish leaders who came to Him at night: You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again (John 3:7). Secondly, Jesus also said in John 10:30, I and the Father are One. Thirdly, He said in John 14:6, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I bring up this preamble because today Oswald Chambers reminds us that we have to humble ourselves (according to Scripture) to Come To Jesus.
