When I think of Christmas, I can say I was blessed with many wonderful ones. I am from a big family with lot’s of family traditions. My dad and I would hang lights every year inside and out and there was always a contest in our subdivision for the best house. Christmas caroling, baking, midnight Candle Mass, gifting and all the glitter!! But my most important memory to me as a child was on Christmas Eve spending time alone praying and thanking Jesus for Christmas!

I remember my Grandpa sitting in his leather chair as the kids gathered around his feet wide eyed listening to him read the night before Christmas before bed. The kids would sneak out of our rooms in the wee hours to see if Santa ate the cookies left out for him. When we saw crumbs it was our "evidence" he had come! Christmas morning the tree looked like it was swimming in piles of colorful Christmas presents all shapes and sizes. There were beautiful twinkling lights and stockings over the fire place. We smelled delicious food being prepared tor Christmas dinner as the kids went with Grandpa for a Toboggan ride. We would race through the beautiful snowy trails. I loved when he would suddenly go fast up a little hill or around a corner just missing the tree branches in the nick of time. We would then slow down as we came out to an open field to see beautiful deer and wildlife. I remember various debates and stories shared during meals. Even with a few dramatic exchanges sprinkled in the love and togetherness of our family always won out and it was truly the best Christmas ever. ~ Hopeful
