This post will about what is working at this time for me to bring the pH of the first urine void upon arising up toward the preferable range of 6.5 - 7.25. This is suppose to be the most acidic time of the day, so if I can correct to that range I will have helped the body to better heal itself. At the strong urging of Peter I decided to to discover what it actually was and ordered pH test strips on Amazon called Maximum Wellbeing pH Test Strips (100), The Practitioners Choice. I also scheduled a urine analysis at the lab just to make sure. The urine analysis was done at approximately 2 pm, supposedly the most alkaline time. The reading was 6.0, so I figured the first morning sample was definitely going to be lower and therefore more acidic and sure enough the test strips were showing a range of 5.5 - 5.75.

First thing is I read the article suggested by Peter on Logos Nutritionals website called Understanding your body's acid/alkaline balance. I will link to that below. My main takeaway from that was the understanding of how the digestion of protein leads to the formation of "ash" residue which leads to acid formation. So I decided to not introduce ANY protein sources after 3 pm, making my evening meal just raw greens and a small carbohydrate source.

Synchronicity lead to another article on Dr. Mercola's site about the many benefits of fasting. My takeaway from that was that I need not fear muscle wasting because of lower protein intake. I was already consuming about 50-60 grams of protein a day and decided to lower that to between 25 -40 grams thus producing even less "ash" residue (acidic) for the body to contend with. I will also link to that article.

The final change was to add about two quarts of lemon water a day to my routine, always remembering to drink it only two hours before or two hours after MMS because of its antioxidant properties that would reduce the oxidant properties of MMS. Make sure to rinse you mouth (teeth) with water after drinking the lemon water to prevent damage to the enamel. I use a whole bottle of Minute Maid Frozen Lemon Juice (equivalent to 6-7 lemons) to 2 quarts of water and stevia for sweetener. Recently added ginger root slices which I boil and simmer to make a wonderful lemon gingeraide. I don't strain out the ginger slices because I enjoy chewing them.

So what have been the results? They were quite surprisingly immediate. For the past week the readings have come in between 6.5 and 7.25 with 6.75 being the average. As I said this is what seems to be working for me. Read the articles and come to your own conclusions. Post your own findings here so others can read and benefit from them. This is another key element in finding our way back to health.

Hello Craig

Thanks you for the link. Here is what I find interesting. Urine, being a byproduct of blood filtration from your kidneys, is yellow due to a pigment called urochrome from the breakdown of hemoglobin, a protein in your red blood cells.

Perhaps the brownish skin blotches that people report also relate to the breakdown of hemoglobin arriving in the dermis. After all, the skin, as does the bladder, functions as an excretory organ.

Just "Food for thought."

Godspeed,
peter

While not directly pertaining to urine pH, this article does show us the future of urine testing and what can be expected. Further down it does discuss the characteristics of what is considered to be healthy urine and water intake.
