Hi forum, My daughter is really wanting to purchase some ketchup and barbeque sauce, but what she's found has a little bit of erythritol in it. I told her I'd make her some, but she doesn't want to wait. Plus she said that the paste that's used to make ketchup actually has 3 grams of sugar and that the ketchup she wants to buy has 0 grams of sugar. I've read good and bad things about sugar alcohols but the jury is still out in my mind. I told her that I would post her question and get back to her. We both are wanting to ensure that we are following the protocol and that we don't do anything that will prevent our healing process. If anyone can give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!!

Hi Anna, I would if possible stay away from store bought tomato or barbecue sauces. For your own tomato sauce I'd chop fresh tomatoes, add a little water, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sea salt, a dash of apple cider vinegar, a tiny bit of cinnamon powder, and even a little bit of ginger.. To your taste, cook it down into a sauce. You could even add beans of your choice! This homemade sauce will last three days in the fridge or you could even freeze it in portions. Chrissie

Thank you Thomas and Marie, This is great advice from the both of you. I really think it's best to stay away from the sugar alcohols. I don't think my body handles it well. I'll go ahead and make her some ketchup. Great news! I found a barbecue sauce. It is sweetened with stevia and uses apple cider vinegar. It's called Simple Girl. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WRQYDZ8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 I'm working on a buffalo sauce recipe next. God Bless!
