Here is a picture of a beautiful Rose I grew for the first time in my garden last year. I will send a picture from this year later, when they are out! I love Roses too Mel, just like your mum and grandmother did. I think a lot of women love them! My neighbour says Roses were his wife's favourite flower and he gave me a wood carving picture he made of yellow Roses which is beautiful:-). I gave him and several other neighbours numerous painted stones to add colour and cheer to their gardens:-).Many have flowers on them and I gave my neighbour a lovely painted stone with red roses to commemorate his wife :-). I tidied up the front of two neighbours wee gardens from weeds and put lots of painted stones instead. So my street looks very colourful, and pleasant. That way I have made a small difference to this environment and I'm happy about that. So I am really looking forward to when the flowers properly bloom again this year. It won't be long. The fragrance of Roses is by far the nicest I think. Twice a year in May and October I put fish, blood and bone fertiliser down( top soil) and the plants love it. Last year I got white fly but a tiny amount of plain dish liquid soap in water sprayed on the plants sorts that out. I will not use any chemicals and I dont need them either. Nor does the environment or the bees etc. I love Bees and I love to see them buzzing about in summer so big and fluffy and stripey. I also love to see the butterflies that come in and rest on the flowers, before fluttering away. I am not a gardener, I had zero experience. But it's so gratifying and pleasant to encourage and nurture plants to grow:-). And the colours, the delicacy and the scent!! Need I say more:-) Love Chrissie | |||
