That's great that you have started gardening:-). And wow you are planting a lot!! What with your own onions, peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, zucchini,green beans, watermelon, cantaloupe and strawberries that is a fantastic selection of veg and fruit!!
I bet you and your wife and the kids are excited to see them grow. Never mind when it comes to the tasting:-). There must be something super satisfying about growing your own food. I have never grown my own food. However, last year was the first time I planted some flowers and to see them grow and bloom was truly lovely.
It's nice that you will know where they have come from and that they are all grown naturally without pesticides. Also, hopefully the kids in time will want to help with the garden. You never know it may spark a lifelong interest in gardening for them too. And as you say it is a great way to get them to eat more healthy foods.
Yes it would be lovely to see pictures of your produce as it progresses :-).
