Dear All, I just wanted to write something for anyone who is struggling with Morgellons, chronic illness, chronic Lyme disease, exhaustion, pain or symptoms that seem to go on and on. Please don't give up Hope. When your health is poor, life can become incredibly difficult. When you're living with pain, exhaustion, discomfort and uncertainty, even ordinary things can feel like huge mountains to climb. And when you're going through it alone, it can feel even harder. I know that feeling. Sometimes improvement doesn't happen in the way we imagine it will. It's not always a dramatic moment where suddenly everything gets better. Sometimes it's more like peeling an onion — another layer, and then another, and another. Slowly. Bit by bit. Sometimes so slowly that you don't even realise you're making progress until you look back and see how far you've actually come. Recently, I had an accident and damaged the tendons around my knee, and I've been in absolute agony. I was left for six days before I finally got walking aids, which made an already incredibly difficult situation even harder. Being on my own and trying to cope with that level of pain has been very difficult, and I'm still struggling with it. I've had to take painkillers even though I don't particularly like how they make me feel. They can leave me feeling spaced out and not quite myself. But sometimes life puts us in situations where we have to do things we don't want to do because we simply need to get through the next part. I think we all go through periods of endurance in life. There are times when we can't fix everything. We can't make the pain disappear. We can't make the health service move faster. We can't control what tomorrow will bring. But we can sometimes get through the next hour. And then the next one. Mel has had a really difficult time recently too, including an operation for skin cancer on his face and other things that he's had to endure. And he has another operation soon to endure too! It's a reminder that so many people are quietly carrying things that other people may not know. We're all just doing our best to keep putting one foot in front of the other. So if you're struggling today, please don't feel that you have to work out the rest of your life. You don't. Just take today. Or, if today feels too big, take the next hour. And if an hour feels too much, take the next step. Healing isn't always a straight line. There can be setbacks, difficult days and times when you wonder whether things will ever improve. But a difficult chapter isn't the end of your story. Sometimes you just have to keep going! We ain't called Warriors for no reason:-). And I truly believe that even when we can't see the light very clearly, we should never completely stop looking for it. God, grant us all the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference! Love Chrissie. | |||
