Morgellons - This Week Has Been a Character-Building Exercise

Dear Mel,

I am so glad they fixed your air conditioning so that you no longer feel like you are in the Sahara desert!! I know 10 days or so of that extreme heat was affecting your sleep, your comfort and it was hard to work in that temperature.

Your post was so funny talking about it now, being so cold that it feels like you are sleeping in the Arctic and sharing your apartment with the penguins:-).

Joking aside, what is the latest? I hope that maintenance have managed to get the temperature just right now! And that you have nicely thawed out! One extreme to the other ain't good!

If they haven't sorted it yet, your plants will be protesting and wacking the maintenance men with their leaves:-). They won't be happy with fluctuations either.

At least the trains wont object!!

Best wishes,
Chrissie

Morgellons - This Week Has Been a Character-Building Exercise

Good news!

The apartment has finally settled down to something resembling normal. The thermostat seems to have declared a truce, and we're hovering around a very civilized 78 degrees.

The penguins packed their little suitcases this morning.

The polar bears gave me one last hug, thanked me for the hospitality, and slowly wandered north in search of better air conditioning.

One of them left a note on the refrigerator that simply read, "We'll miss the ice cubes."

I have to admit, after spending a week first roasting and then freezing, "normal" feels pretty wonderful.

Unfortunately, because of circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to fulfill my obligations to my coaching customers this past week, and I sincerely apologize. Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and kindness while I worked through everything.

If anyone would like to speak with me before next Tuesday, please feel free to call me today, tomorrow, Sunday, or Monday between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. I'd be happy to catch up with you.

And please join us for prayer this Sunday if you're able. I'd love to have you there.

Thank you all again for your understanding.

God bless,

Mel

Morgellons - This Week Has Been a Character-Building Exercise

From One Extreme to the Other...

Well... the apartment maintenance team fixed the air conditioning.

I think.

We've officially gone from living in Hades to renting an apartment somewhere just outside the Arctic Circle.

Last week I couldn't sleep because it was so hot. Last night I finally got some wonderful sleep... mostly because I pulled the blankets completely over my head and pretended I was camping in Alaska.

Progress?

I'm pretty sure I saw a penguin wander through the living room this morning. He looked around, nodded approvingly, and asked if he could invite a few friends over.

Meanwhile, I'm peeking out the window at everyone wearing shorts, flip-flops, and tank tops while I'm online shopping for expedition parkas, insulated boots, thermal socks, and emergency supplies for surviving the next Ice Age.

I've started wondering practical things...

"Should I drip the faucets so the pipes don't freeze?"

"Do they make electric blankets for July?"

"If I build an igloo in the living room, will it help with the heating bill?"

I'm not saying it's cold... but I opened the freezer and it actually felt warmer.

The funny thing is that after spending more than a week sweating through a heat wave, I almost don't want to complain. Sleeping through the night felt amazing. I'll gladly take waking up looking like a human burrito over lying awake melting into the mattress.

There are a few unexpected perks, too.

The ice cream isn't melting.

The chocolate stays perfectly solid.

The mosquitoes are probably filing complaints.

And my box fan has officially been promoted to "decorative furniture."

With any luck, maintenance will discover that thermostats have more than two settings: Inferno and Penguin Habitat.

Until then, if anyone needs me, I'll be inside wearing three blankets, sipping hot cocoa, and trying to convince the penguins to stop stealing all the good seats on the couch.

Stay cool... just maybe not this cool.

Love,

Mel
