Hi Nan,
Thanks for your response and I'm glad you got your candida under control. Well, I totally agree with you, weeks ago I decided to give up oatmeal, rice and quinoa and stick indeed to proteins and healthy fats and loads of vegetables. This definitely is the way for me to go at present for the next two months, maybe three months and then I will test a little bit of oatmeal or rice and if I have a reaction I won't eat it. But day at a time at the moment. I'm doing this for candida but also for lyme and morgellons. I know we need to be low carb for our health . I need to limit pulses too as they are high carb, but a little is fine. Oh and absolutely no starchy vegetables either. It's all a matter of training ourselves like Pavlovs dogs :-) Amazing what we can become accustomed to! And if it's for health well it's a no brainer to give up things that don't help us.
I make a nice drink in my nutribullet with fennel, ginger, lemon, spinach, flaxseed and water... It's lovely, refreshing and healthy. Or avocado, lemon, flaxseed and spinach is another favourite.
I find almonds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed, sunflower seeds fill me up alongside protein and veg instead of carbs. Although seeds have carbs too so not too many. It's a fine balance to be had, listening to the body at all times.. It tells us what it needs very clearly doesn't it... Of course our brains often want something very different (my brain still craves Potato chips but my body says NO WAY HOSE :-))
