Its a great question to bring again into the forum.
I followed Ellen's advice, which is to spray a coat or a jacket with Kleen Green every time after you have worn it, inside and out and then sit it on a hook or hanger to dry off.
I also washed my coats and jackets if they were machine washable, probably every few months. I've never felt they were a problem treated like this.
