Hi Mark,

I see you are still hard at work in searching for answers. Good for you. Hopefully, you are finding some of them here.

Thyroid suppression does indeed appear to be a very common characteristic of the syndrome we have all come to refer to as Morgellons. In fact, it may very well be one of the critical factors that "opens the door" to becoming susceptible to the disease.

As you correctly stated, low body temperature - as a telltale symptom of low metabolism - is a harbinger of many degenerative problems in the body. While low body temp used to be an important diagnostic factor for physicians, it is so common today that it is largely ignored... often with devastating consequences.

Medical diagnostic protocols today rely much less on gathering a comprehensive picture of the factors influencing a patient's health and much more on blood tests and computerized diagnostics.

You mentioned that "your thyroid is not a problem" as your blood tests were normal. This is a very common misconception that is addressed in my published article Hypothyroidism Type II - Modern Epidemic (which is reprinted in the "Restoring Your Bioterrain" section of the Important Articles page on this website).

Undiagnosed hypothyroidism and adrenal exhaustion are rampant in our culture inside and outside of the Morgellons community. It all boils down to compromised cellular energy potential. It doesn't matter if you have normal levels of thyroid hormone if the cells aren't getting the message.

Restoring endocrine function and balance is fundamental to repairing the bioterrain - as is removing the toxic burden(s) that caused the imbalance in the first place.

Our diet and our environment are loaded with xenoestrogens, heavy metals and other chemicals that suppress thyroid function. Couple that with critical mineral deficiencies (i.e.- magnesium and iodine) and it is easy to see how energy producing pathways are being interrupted at the cellular level.

Mel's protocol goes a long way toward normalizing these pathways, but managing endocrine dysfunction is a complicated endeavor requiring the assistance of a trained medical professional who understands these issues.

Thanks again for sharing what you are learning. We all need to pull together to survive and thrive in these trying times.

Blessings,

John
