This is exactly why everyone should get tested to see what drugs they are "sensitive" to so that they get the best results with what they are taking.

In talking to someone who is almost 'cured' of all symptoms who chose not to go the pharmaceutical drug route, I discovered she is taking powdered sulphur (1 teaspoon a day). I did not know that Bactrim is a sulpha drug, which is sulphur-based, until today. My acupuncturist told me today sulphur is really good for the skin. I also just read how damaging antibiotic drugs can be to the gut flora and my gut flora is already compromised (as I mentioned previously, test results showed NO lactobacillus in me at all, as well as two bad bacteria for which results were high). So, I just ordered powdered sulphur from pennherb.com. Since switching off Bactrim a week ago to a much more potent antibiotic (not a sulpha drug), I have been feeling much worse. Absolutely no energy. Never been this fatigued before. In looking at my lab tests results (yesterday), I discovered my body is resistant to the new antibiotic I am on. My regular doctor was away on a family emergency and the doctor filling in did not have a clue about what was going on with me when I saw him about the infection (welts) on my neck and inflamed face a week ago. At my insistence, he switched me to the antibiotic I am on now, because I had found out that that drug had helped another Morgellons sufferer tremendously. Here are the lessons I have learned from this: 1) I should have made sure I understood my lab tests results BEFORE I went on any medications. This seems obvious, but I have been so sick I have been going on blind trust. 2) Every individual has a different set of health challenges, though our physical symptoms may be similar. Not everyone will lack the type of gut flora I lack or have the type of bad bacteria overgrowth I have. Understanding these individual internal imbalances should determine what we each are putting in our bodies to get well. 3) Maybe Bactrim worked for Mel because of the sulphur in it.

Everything I've said here may only reflect my inability to absorb info that has already been repeated over and over here on this site. If so, please forgive me. This disease has obviously been affecting my brain, as well. I am deeply grateful to the individuals who have been keeping in touch with me by phone as I struggle to get well. I look forward to being there more for others once I'm on the upswing.
