9/24/2015 2:22:02 AM | Very interesting, Peter. I had one doc tell me my Histamines were going crazy and I needed to settle them down by taking a daily Allegra. This was about 10 years ago when I was having angio edemas which are large swellings randomly: lip, tongue, bottom of foot, wrist...I recall that I did follow this internal medicine doc's recommendation for months if a years or two. I think I got the ultimate cure at that time from an allergist/immunologist that got MD from UCI, but was more of a wholistic doc in practice. He tested my PH, did kinesiology testing, and several other tests that no other allergy doc (and I'd been to many) had done. He ended up recommending I avoid gluten/wheat and basically follow a South Beach type low carb diet which was popular at the time. He also recommended eating for my blood type. I didn't do that latter half because I think tomatoes was something I was supposed to avoid, yet I eat a lot of tomato sauce and tomatoes. I got better anyway, so, I think I gave my body a break from the gluten that was probably causing a lot of stress in my body and causing these "allergic" reactions of edemas. I stopped the Allegra and was able to let my body heal itself and cleanse. I still think I have active histamines, but not near as much as then. After about a year of that South Beach type diet, my edemas went away and have never come back. But, over the years I started eating wheat again and carbs like corn tortilla chips and new problems arose. And here I am. That darn wheat! I'll never eat it again. Back to my point, I agree with you, Peter, about avoiding anti histamines if possible so that body can heal itself. Get to the root of the problem, don't just mask the symptoms aka evidence of the body's natural healing process. Warm Regards! Mary |
