Thanks Laura,

For your suggestion about herbal tea! I have not gone that route. If a particular herbal tea has worked better than others, I would love to know.

It’s Friday, and I’ve managed to make it through another intense week. Since I didn’t listen to Mel, I had to start over with the WPS. I had made it all the way up to 14, and then got frightened out of my mind when my esophagus started to burn when I took it. It made me fixate on the bleach smell. I went off it for a month and paid dearly.

So, now I am back up to 2 and 2, pretty close to the beginning, because I had gone off for just over a month. It’s my own fault. I should have called Mel. All of you who are just starting out: CALL MEL BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING STUPID!!! He will either reassure you, or give you the kick in the ass that you need. Most of the time, I need a royal kick in the ass. Hopefully, he will post this since this English teacher has just used mildly vulgar language! LOL!

Anyway, I don’t know if I have made any progress on the hair front, but this is what I am currently doing. Most nights, I now shower before I go to bed. I blast my head with cold water, and then I add one of the following shampoos: Theraneem Naturals shampoo (with neem oil), Sulfur8 Shampoo, Millcreek Botanicals Tea Tree Shampoo, or Selsun Blue. I use Ranpure Tea Tree & Lemon Sage Conditioner. Then I spray a mixture of water and Kleen Green on it. Finally, I put a plastic shower cap over my head and sleep on it. I use Dr. Bonner’s coconut oil occasionally but, quite frankly, it makes my already pathetically thin hair SUPER oily for two days after. I hate those days.

Today, after about a week and a half of this, I had an unusually half decent hair day. My hair had more body than usual. My husband likens my hair to thread, and that is a pretty accurate description. My worst moments are first thing every morning. I get in the shower, and my hair takes longer than it should to get wet. Then, it feels “heavy” and “coated.” I wonder if anyone else has had these issues. It almost feels as though something as coated the hair shaft and has weighed it down. Over a year ago, I had a science teacher friend magnify a few hairs I had pulled out under the microscope in the school lab. I certainly didn’t tell her why. I semi-lied and told her I had Lyme disease (which I do, too) and that I think it had caused some hair damage. She compared it to a piece of her healthy hair. The “bulb” at the end of my hair physically looked abnormal, shriveled. There also was a dark coating on both sides of the hair. Morgellons goo, likely, the same awful gel I feel on it daily.
Anyway, I intend to keep whittling away at it. Maybe I’ll get lucky, and it will decide that it doesn’t like my scalp and hair anymore. That would be a relief in ways I can’t describe. Honestly, I cope much better with the other symptoms!

I am looking forward to the anniversary conference call and promise to be there, even though it is in the middle of the afternoon in New England. It’s cold here anyway, and I’m much better off spending an hour and a half with all of you rather than anything else!

My kiddos at school are amazing this semester: I have about 70 of them. We are reading “The Crucible” about the Salem witchcraft trials. A “crucible” is a TEST. I’m in the middle of the hugest test of my life, a test that forces me to address the very core of my character, like John Proctor does in the play. He refuses to give in to the pressure, to sell his soul. Somehow, even though I have taught the play countless times, this time it means SO much more. It’s funny how God orchestrates these little messages that emerge out of the darkness.

If and when I manage to battle this scourge into remission or complete elimination, I must say that I will never forget this “test.” It has already made me a far better human being (even though I like to think that I wasn’t bad to begin with...not many people could spend 8 hours a day with teenagers! LOL!). My mother, who has been sick with early-onset Parkinson’s for the past 20 years, recently said to me, “You know, Jamie, your faith has truly deepened, noticeably, over the past two year.” Thank you, God and Morgellons, for that.

Peace and blessings to all of you!
