It’s a beautiful day in New England, bright blue skies! Let me start by saying that I continue to pray for all of you, whether you are new or whether you are well into your journey. It is so joyful to hear about everyone’s positive improvements! I don’t really have much of an update on my Nicholes. There is nothing new to say about my “daughter” Nichole. As far as my current student Nichole (the 18-year-old) is concerned, the GI doctor has determined that she has severe gastric ulcers, likely caused by stress, which makes sense. After taking care of a mother with cancer for four years—and her mother then died this past July—I am not surprised at all. My school has helped her out immensely, though. She has missed so much school this semester, that her entire schedule was refigured so that she could graduate this June on time. She will need to majorly change her diet, and I have already started talking to her about that. As far as I am concerned, I am attending a retirement workshop in about a week. I am finishing my 31st year of teaching full-time, and I know that I really need to retire as soon as possible because I honestly believe that I will be able to live a much healthier lifestyle once that happens. There will be FAR less stress and more time to take care of my health and diet. Although I have made Herculean efforts to address those issues, the reality is this: there are only so many hours in the day, and I no longer want to spend the vast majority of my day working this hard. I absolutely love my students, but I can no longer handle the relentless correcting load and all of the hours spent planning. Hopefully, my four-year plan can become a 1-2 year plan. Please send some prayers my way on that front. I’ve literally had what feels like an IV line in my arm in relationship to my high school teaching job for over three decades. God has been nudging me about it—he should probably clobber me over the head knowing how stubborn I am—and I am getting the message. It is time to be done. I am feeling much better. Mel has “graduated” me to two WPS baths a week, and I continue to do little victory dances over the fact that I am making noticeable progress. It has been years since I smiled or had multiple good days in a row, and I am blessed and grateful that God has guided me through the most significant challenge of my life, beating this disease. I know I will get there, and I know that this forum has accelerated my recovery. I genuinely appreciate all of the support and love that I have received. Love you all! Jamie | |||
