Hello, everyone!

I can’t wait to hear Donna on Saturday! It’s so exciting! I am in charge of the SATs this weekend at my school, but I am hoping to be done with my responsibilities by 2 pm. I will probably be listening during my 45-minute drive home.

A quick update on my former student, Nichole. The swelling in her brain has healed, which is good...no masses have been detected. She saw a cardiologist, and all of the tests run have shown nothing. They are going to do a procedure where they put her to sleep and look at her heart...that is coming up soon. They still don’t know what caused the back-to-back strokes. I saw her yesterday. I can tell that she still isn’t her old self. It appears like she is in a fog, in her own world—unless she is having a conversation. I can relate to that—it’s just like brain fog! She still confuses a lot of words.

I continue to slog along with my own healing. I’ve been at 7 & 7 with the WPS for several weeks now and appear to be past the big herx that happened last weekend.

I wish there was some way to know exactly what to do to accelerate the healing process, but there really isn’t. I just have to remember Mel’s mantra: slow and steady.

In my case, it’s hard to tell when I experience symptoms what the culprit is. I find myself asking myself these questions: Have I gotten enough sleep? Am I eating the way I should? Am I controlling my stress? Am I moving enough?

I am really looking forward to when summer FINALLY makes its way to New England. There is no real spring here anymore; it seems like winter just turns to summer. It’s been cold and rainy here for weeks. Maria and Donald know what I’m talking about! I can’t wait to start my summer walking (and occasionally hiking) routine again...well armed against ticks and insects predators!

I think of all of you daily!

Jamie
