Hello, everyone!
Ok, I have to post something funny that happened today right before I called Mel for a coaching session. I am sure Mel will laugh when he reads this!
Today is a light day in school because we just finished studying John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men.” Probably everyone on this site read the book at some point in high school.
The climax of the novella is when Lennie kills Curley’s wife because Lennie is intellectually disabled and doesn’t know his own strength. While one of my junior classes was watching the film, that scene began.
Since he had clearly read the book, when Lennie was about to accidentally snap the neck of Curley’s wife, one of my junior boys spontaneously cried out, “Oh, s _ _ t,” here it comes!
We all laughed, despite his inappropriate use of language! He meant no harm!
Just thought I’d give you a little peek into the life of a high school teacher in 2019!
By the way, if you have ever seen the Looney Tunes episode with Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny about the Abominable Snowman, that is a tribute to “Of Mice and Men.” I’ll send Mel the link, and maybe he can post it.
